Mat used to irk the poop out of me, the onliest POV of his I liked was the dancing one at Maerone in LoC. Then somewhere in CoT I got involved in the 'dance' between him an Tuon and my opinion changed. It will be interesting to see if my interest stays high now that the two are separated.
There is one character that I have consistantly found irritating and obnoxious in the extreme and that's Morgase. Gawyn doesn't bother me much but to all those that say he's got all the charm and smarts of a long dead toadfish, I say that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. I admit that the scene of her getting the flag to wave in the battle for Malden is good, but generally she reminds me of all that is wrong with the nobility. It is her own damn fault she signed that disasterous treaty with the Whitecloaks.
On my first couple of reads I NEVER skim much less skip.
I don't really have favorite POV's per se, but my favorite scenes involve the non battle use of the OP. My favorite scene of all is using the Bowl of Winds, second favorite is the Cleansing and after that in no particular order; healing Logain, Elayne and Avi become sisters, Elayne Avi and Min bond Rand, Egwene figures out how to Travel, that kind of stuff. I will admit that Egwene is my favorite character, I like her brains, her OP creativity (not only is she strong but she's also damn creative) and her moxie. But I don't particularily re-read any of her POVs but I must admit Honey in the Tea is a real good read.
Generally it's not the characters that drives this series for me, nor is it the plot, it's that I find the WoT universe to be extremely attractive, more so than most similar fantasy universes.
