The part of a typical home driveway that is between the street and the sidewalk is called the "approach" I know this term from my days in construction, when I was younger. Every year or two, I find myself having forgotten that word, (not the word approach, just that the word also means the last little bit of a driveway) and it drives me crazy until I remember it again.
