I regret wasting much of July reading it, so I respectfully disagree.

Everyone is in movement. Victarion is going to see Dany. Tyrion is going to see Dany. Stannis is going to fight Roose Bolton and his bastard son. Theon is...repulsive. Arya is going to become an assassin. Dany is trying to figure out how to do something, anything, but isn't ruthless enough to kill the people she needs to in order to assert authority.
No one resolves these issues. Not only that, but the only person who actually gets where they're going, Quentyn Tyrell, manages to become a charcoal briquet. We see no battles, no action, no resolution. NOTHING.
I regret wasting the time to read this book. I could have spent the time more effectively reading Der Zauberberg or Анна Каренина, the two decent books on my bedside table.
Crossroads of Twilight was a miserable book as well.
I am rapidly coming to a simple conclusion: fantasy is escapist crap, and not worth reading. Jordan and Martin have both created engaging entertainment, only to become full of themselves, filled with needless hubris (you're fucking fantasy writers, not someone important) and lost focus - completely.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

It's impossible for nothing to happen in AMoL.

Actually, there is growing discontent, even among those who've defended Martin.

Those who says that nothing happens in ADWD really need to read CoT

Watching grass grow is better than reading CoT, so it's not saying much for ADWD *NM*

A Dance of Dragons is hardly filler. *shrugs* *NM*

Agreed. It could be argued that more happens in the epilogue of ADWD than all of CoT. *NM*

I do request that you don't lump ALL of fantasy into those two authors

Wait... You want intelligent meaningful books, but you're demanding action?

I think the issue is conflating fantasy with the multi-volume epics than anything I'd disagree with
