Was pretty much written, and in need of serious polishing. So it wasn't like picking up a new project from scratch. Sure it required time away from WoT, but not as much as if he started something new from the beginning.
The past is just that, the past. You can only truly live by looking to the future!

I think it's a disservice to Sanderson to blame him for Jordan's own faults.

The story isn't the problem. His fault is that his dialogue & characterization suck
