I was re-reading the ToM chapter, "A Call to Stand", and its making less and less sense to me that this came to pass the way it did.

The first thing that is clear is that the new Hall is an amalgamation of the Rebels and the loyalists. But there seem to be some pretty weird loyalties going around. Based on Ajah:

1) Red: All three were present in the meeting to reduce Egwene's powers. Not surprising.

2) Green: A confusing situation. The Green was overwhelmingly part of the rebellion, most probably because of their staunch alliance with the Blue and their general rivalry with the Reds. Post-reunification, they seem to have gone back to their old order, with Talene alone being replaced because she was Black. Neither of the Rebel sitters was chosen as replacement, indicating that Adelorna is still in control as Captain-General. All three Greens were present at the meeting. Rubinde's presence (since she was ant-Rebel and didn't even want talks) makes sense, as does Faiselle's, but it seems very weird that the other Green was present as well. For one thing, Adelorna was the one to propose Egwene as Amyrlin and would likely be a strong supporter. For another, if we can assume that Farnah was elected by usual means, she is likely to have been from the Rebels since most Greens were Rebels. With their Ajah Head a strong supporter of Egwene, and the majority of the sisters being Rebels, it is a little confusing that all three Sisters were in a meeting opposed to Egwene, and stood to reduce her powers.

3) Gray: Yukiri is firmly in Egwene's camp, but Andaya and Varilin are present at the meeting. Again, a little weird, given that their Ajah Head was most opposed to trying to manipulate Egwene.

4) Brown: The Ajah that seems to have most support for Egwene. Saerin and Janya don't attend, and seem to be pretty opposed to Takima's presence.

5) Yellow: It looks like Suana continues as Ajah Head, with Romanda taking the seat in the Hall vacated by Sedore. Doesine is clearly in Egwene's camp, and despite it being very strongly possible that Suana would have been opposed to any move to curtail Egwene's powers (since she was one of the people who sponsored Egwene as Amyrlin in tGS), it is reasonably possible that Romanda holds enough power to overcome her. From Romanda's PoV, it is clear the First Weaver of the Yellow doesn't have all that much power over the Sitters.

6) White: Seaine is firmly in Egwene's camp, but Ferane is (confusingly) not. That she continued as Sitter is itself confusing, but since their closest allies, the Blues, regularly have Sitters who are Ajah Heads, perhaps this isn't weird for the White. But she was clearly in Egwene's camp in the end of tGS, and even makes it clear that she thinks Egwene wouldn't be easily manipulated. Her presence in the meeting seems pretty weird.

7) Blue: Even more confusion. How Lelaine managed to extricate herself from her previous position of being a staunch supporter of Egwene is unclear. From tGS, we can assume Lyrelle wasn't at this meeting because she was still in the Black Tower. The unknown third Sitter who replaced Moria is clearly not under Lelaine's thumb, which could either mean Lelaine isn't Head of the Ajah anymore, or maybe her influence within the Ajah has decreased.

Overall, the meeting really didn't make sense, politically. The overwhelming presence of the Green, as well as Ferane's presence don't seem to reflect what happened in tGS. Similar cases can be made for the Gray Ajah. Lelaine should have had a hard time opposing Egwene at all, giver her ploy in tGS, but no such thing is shown.

Either something happened to change things from the end of tGS, or Brandon screwed up a little, here, just to ensure that a minimum number of Sitters was present.
