I think it grew out of a discussion on how a sul'dam could appear to be in control of the link when she never in fact channels.
I think it grew out of a discussion on how a sul'dam could appear to be in control of the link when she never in fact channels.
I've read it, very interesting: you've convinced me it a sort of link too different from the Link to be considerate more than e distant relative, or not related at all.
That said, there also is a thing I'm doubtful about:
the sul'dam has utter and complete control over the damane's channelling. The sul'dam can have her weave whatever she wants, without ever having to command it. It is the damane's channeling, but the a'dam compels so efficiently that the damane need never be consulted at all
I remembered this very differently, at least from TGH: the sul'dam had something like of a "veto" on all the damane's channelling, but couldn't actually force her to do anything, and that's the reason damane need to be "trained" instead of just dragged on: if the damane doesn't actively co-operate, no weave forms.
When Tuon did it I seem to recall something odd and different, yes, but I guess I just ignored it since it didn't add up with what I knew until then :V
It was strange not just because it was the first time we'd seen a sul'dam channel through her damane like that, but also because Tuon was able to wear a bracelet on each wrist. How can someone be part of two different links at once?
There was some speculation that the 'channeling-through' ability was either not widely known or not widely practised by sul'dam, perhaps because it brought the sul'dam closer to actually channeling themselves. Some thought it was a secret known only to the Imperial Family. I'm more inclined to think that they would train damane even if they didn't technically have to because a fighter with hundreds of years of experience is better than a fighter with single/tens of years. It's more efficient to teach the damane the weaves than to keep having to teach new generations of sul'dam.
Or, you know, maybe RJ just flaked and didn't think that scene through properly.
How come every Forsaken wasn’t loaded with angreal when they were sealed in the Bore?
