Personally, I don't really mind the amateur pictures on the site. I'm glad the series inspired people to draw, sketch, paint, use computer imaging tools and otherwise engage in their own acts of creativity regardless of whether I think their pictures are that polished.
I'm assuming you are referring to Richard Boyes' pictures, since The Dabel Brothers images are very well done and professional.
And if you are referring to Boyes', I think his rendition of some of the characters is closer to my conception of them than Sweet ever came to.
