Actually, that would have made for some nice differences in the way the story played out

For one, Lan wouldn't have been *dead inside* nor would he have given Rand that stupid "women we love get hurt, love no one" advice. Instead, Lan would be angsty and nursing a broken heart while following his duties to Moiraine. L & M may even have had a stronger fight than their sweet confrontation in TGH whil visiting Adeleas and Vandene...
For another, it would have added a nice element to the Cleansing. Alivia may well have been chosen to channel with Rand then, as she's the most powerful female out there. It would have been great, knowing that she's keeping the Cleansing going but is also the person who will "help Rand die!" I would have worried if Rand might've died right then and there - not just from the channeling, or the onslaught of Forsaken, but from his Cleansing partner.
And, yes, your joke was extremely puntastic =P

Pretty funny! Wouldn't Mat, Avien and Asmo have been killed by Rahvin if she took Moiraines place? *NM*
