Perrin's life experiences have been pretty incredibly different from Rand and Mat. Being a blacksmith isn't easy work, you know.

But aging 2x faster?
Furthermore, he was a blacksmith in Emond's Field, but has mostly stopped actually doing it since. And when he was in Emond's Field I don't recall him being described as "he's 18, looks like he's 36".
