It is built around unrealistic circumstances and coincidences. It's the reason anybody actually reads it.

People read it because it is about extraordinary people and events. Extraordinary, not coincidences. There's a huge difference.
Wherever you see more than one single coincidence, it's pretty much guaranteed that's very bad writing.
