Light is held before the maw of infinite void, and all that he is can be seized.
The blade will bind him by twain.
From TGS:
"Cast it away! That is death we hold, death and betrayal. It is HIM."
It was pretty much established already back in TSR that the Dark One IS The True Source. It has also been stated by Cadsuane that Callandor lacks a buffer that would prevent a user from drawing in more of the one power than the channeler could safely handle. So maybe it can also be used when seizing the True Power? To draw in ALL of it. ALL of HIM.
"By twain" might refer to Saidin and Saidar binding the DO I guess, accessed via a male and a female channeler that Rand would link to.
Very matrix revolutions. But I can see it as one of several possibilities, especially with the Jesus Christ and thus Neo aspects of Rand. I say this is a very possible ending, one that would annoy me though, but more acceptable than others. As long as there isn't a ridiculous deus ex machina retconned chekhov's superitem (you can tell i've been on tvtropes) shoved in in a way that breaks the plot, then the final battle decided on a whim and lawyeresque nitpicking over how said item may or may not act linked with moraine planning everything from day one including utterly unpredictable events and her own "death" whilst guessing that Harry, sorry I mean Rand, will come back to life with no rationale or evidence base. Though the accidental balefire-TP (predictive text wants me to write bakery hilariously) formed Moridin link does share something in common with accidental horcrux making.
I have no idea how this became a Harry Potter rant either, I must be very tired. But I'm still bitter, Rowling. Back to point, theory seems valid and likely if somewhat predictable. I'll take it until a better one emerges.
