... are terribly unlikely to have become Wisdom in their living area anyway. Nynaeve became Wisdom in circumstances out of the ordinary (she was Mistress Baran's new apprentice, and the Wisdom died before Nynaeve had been her assistant/second for many years. There probably wasn't any other trained woman available in the whole TR at the time, so the Women's Council opted for Nynaeve despite misgivings about her age). In normal circumstances, a "young" wilder would never be chosen Wisdom (aside from the fact it's about the most conspicuous job for a young wilder who doesn't want to attract attention). Nynaeve should have been much older. She was also exceptional in her denial of her own ability. Most wilders must know what they are...
Wilders are all sparkers. They develop the ability in their teenage years. The reasons why those women chose not to go to the Tower must vary, but a great deal if not most of them must leave their living area sooner than later when they realize what they are, in fear they'll be denounced to the Aes Sedai, or far worse (especially in the south), to the WC. What the Tower thinks of wilders is well-known, and in many areas wilders must be feared anyway, them and also what would happen if they attracts the Tower attention on their village (a lot of villagers and peasants have irrational fears and beliefs about AS). Even full sisters like Adeleas and Vandene, in an AS-friendly nation, hid they were channellers. Few villages would wish a wilder to live among them (incl. Emond's Field, had they known about Nynaeve...). Most of these wilders must avoid marrying and, the Kin hasn't exactly invented the wheel with this, they must not stay too many years in one place, moving away before the fact they do not age is noticed. Life must become easier once they really start to get old, beyond their middle years. It's then some of them can become Wisdoms and such, fake their natural death after quite many years (the fact a woman who's pretended to be around 55/60 doesn't age fast attracts little attention compared to the comments a woman who's lived 20-25 years in a place still looks like she's 20 y.o.... and young wilders can easily be confused with AS by those who has not seen what the agelessness really looks like) and move to another area. According to Egwene, it's pretty common out of the TR for villages to pick their Wisdom from outside their area. As far as we know, wilders who become village Wisdoms is rather rare. The Seanchan caught a few, that we've heard. It's really not that great a job for a wilder, as she becomes a public figure and attracts much attention. Beside, wilders are usually "one trick wonders", and that their trick turns out to be Healing or listening to the Wind must be relatively rare. Based on what some of the other tricks are, I guess a good number of wilders turn into unpleasant or even nasty people, who use their one trick to spy for gain, or who can bend people to their will, after a fashion. A lot of wilder tricks seem to fall into the dubious category, the sort that can be exploited for gain. One would think the better intentioned wilders rather seek the Tower (and a life of power, comfort, adventures or luxury.. the way the AS are perceived). The real motives of those who choose a complicated secret life (wilders, of course, not the kinswomen who are another matter altogether) are questionable...

I agree with you ... which is why I pointed out that most of these women leave the area

Them leaving and moving to a different area is the only reasonable explanation.

Actually, it's worse, because she wouldn't be a long-lived OLD woman, but rather a forever-young one *NM*
