I certainly agree with you that channelers can not be left on their own. But I just don't see much value in what the WT currently has to offer.

Maybe I wasn't clear on this. I was thinking of breaking the constitution of the WT, instead of the Brand of the WT.

A new organization consists of the current AS, wind finders, WOs, and Ashaman will certainly appear, but how much of their customs and laws will be based on what the WT currently has?

First, should the current test to raise to the Accepted and the full Aes Sedai stay? I can't see either stay. To be raised to Accepted, requires no channelings, and only requires devotion to an abstract idea of the WT. I see no purpose in it, other than self gloating.

Second, should the current ranking system based on OP strength stay? We have already been given plenty of example how that mess things up. I can't see that either, not when there are other rankings already in existence, from the Kin, wind finder, and the WOs.

Third, should the Three Oaths stay? Given we are arguing about the utility of the criminal binder in this thread, I took it to be self explaintary it shouldn't stay either.

Fourth, should AS live inside the tower, and don't marry? The Wind Finders marry, the WOs marry and the Ashaman marry. Rand, Egwene, Elayne, Siuan, Moiraine ... were married or will marry. The trend is no. So I don't think the future AS will live inside the Tower. They will work inside the Tower, and live with the common folks. So I can't see that stay either.

So, what can stay? The structure of the Ajah and the Hall maybe. The daily routine of the Novice and Accepted. The lesson structure, I am not sure. The various laws of the WT we have not heard much about, maybe.

Since I believe most of the important things that identify the WT to us will go away, I think a clean break is the best way to start a new organization.

So while I think a new organization is necessary, the foundation of that new organization will be so different from the WT, that the only thing it may share with the current White Tower, is the Brand of the WT.

You are right in saying the common folks would want the WT to be representing the Light. But that is more or less a branding issue. The WT has spend so much time build up the brand, Rand would be foolish to abandon the brand.

Everything you have said so far, can be accommodated by setting up a new organization, from Rand's memory of how things used to be from the AOL.
