A friend recommended WoT to me a couple of months after I was diagnosed with Relfex Sympathetic Dystrophy, a chronic pain disorder. I was reading constantly, as reading was the one thing that put some distance between my mind and the tremendous pain that was a constant torment. Winter's Heart had just come out, and I found a box set with tEotW, tGH and tDR. When I started reading tEotW I was immediately sucked in and fell in love with the world of the Wheel of Time, and those books helped me get through some of the worst times I had with RSD. Since then (December 2000) I have lost count of how many times I have read the books, and they mean a lot to me. I suppose that something that can provide so much pleasure in the midst of suffering can cause one to develop an emotional attachment.
I was saddened when I learned of RJ's illness, and sadder still when I learned of his death. I am forever grateful for his work; as I said, it means a lot to me--I hope you forgive any over-sentimentality in my poor tribute.
Almighty God, we remember this day before thee thy faithful servant Jim, and we pray thee that, having opened to him the gates of larger life, thou wilt receive him more and more into thy joyful service; that he may win, with thee and thy servants everywhere, the eternal victory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect for an Anniversary of One Departed.
The Book of Common Prayer 1928.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him.
Thanks Jim.

Thanks for the heart-felt tribute. RJ has had a huge impact on many WOT readers.
