As I've said before, a few parts could have been incorporated in to KOD, and COT would not have been required
I think the material is decent, but the structure of the books was lost after ACOS or so. I don't really mind that personally, and I'm not really sure it's possible to maintain tight coherence in any series this long – you can't have constant action; some time needs to be taken to set up plot lines that will pay off later – but the periods of downtime which can be managed more or less well, and Jordan didn't do it well with WH and COT. Actually, the structure's still wonky in KOD, which was a great book, and if it had been done chronologically rather than thematically TGS would have been very much like COT. And all of that's resulted in TOM, which I thought was pretty good but have to admit DomA's criticisms were almost all valid.
