Meh Sidious Send a noteboard - 14/12/2010 04:22:45 AM

There is no proof that the Aes Sedai are better at shielding than the Aiel. We only know that the Aes Sedai know how to shield a man, which the Wise Ones do not, because they send their men to the Blight. Amys is just as good at shielding as any Aes Sedai. Even with that, there is no proof that there is any skill to shielding other than holding the weave (apart from the Talent).

Mylen shields Joline, Teslyn and Edesina. Combined, those three likely exceed Egwene, or equal her at worst. It is extremely unlikely that Mylen is even as strong as Amys. So it does look like Aes Sedai shield better than Wise Ones.

This is all very iffy, and there's no proof that Amys couldn't have done this deed. I've never seen evidence that shielding can improve with practice, unlike some other more complicated weaves like Healing. There seem to be people who have a Talent (like Berowin), but other than that, all Aes Sedai/channelers seem to be the same. When Galina is held by the Wise Ones she mentions their strength and how she can break the shield... she never factors in their skill or lack thereof.
