They followed her because she was made into a Wise One (and also claimed to be the Car'a'carn's wife). But her 'raising' did not follow any accepted protocol used by all of the other clans. She didn't go through Rhuidean. The fact of the matter is, the leadership of the Shaido are corrupt and so they have corrupted the ordinary people as well. This can happen to any nation, not just Aiel.

You're other post made it sound like the rest of the clan bore no responsibility for their actions, I call bullshit on that. She wasn't a Wise One, She never went to Rhuidean, yet the entire clan followed her nonetheless. The corruption may have started at the top, but they allowed it to expand, the entire clan is just as responsible for their actions as Sevanna is. And quite frankly, even if you're right, if the Aiel can be so easily corruptible from the top as the Shaido were, then that's even more disturbing.

And, just because the rest of the Aiel could interpret ji'e'toh that way (something for which they've shown no desire or motivation) doesn't change the fact that they don't.

Maybe, Maybe not. The precedent has been set though.

I'm not even sure what your point is. You've tried to equate the making of gai'shain with the taking of damane and slavery. There is clearly no comparison.

It is a comparison because the Shaido Aiel took prisoners against their will and made them into slaves. Just pointing out one blatant example out of many in the wonderful place called Randland.
