If you want to use the greatest adventurer of the Age to carry your threat about the Eye of the World eventually to the Dragon Reborn, why not loosen a few screws so that whenever he talks about his adventures he starts going on about giants with faces on their abdomens and aliens who stuck probes up his ass and so forth? Considering the guy's a legend, quite possibly a Hero of the Horn, it will sap morale when people learn of it, and it neatly covers up whatever it was Jain found in the Blight.

And now I'm imagining Jain as that pilot from Independence Day.
