I'm one who felt ToM was a bit of a letdown. Let me elaborate.
1) After Veins of Gold, and Verin's Visit, and Egwene gaining the Seat, I was looking forward to what would be wrought as now we finally had two of team Light in control of themselves, their destinies, and had large forces at their command.
What did we get? Nothing. Or next to it.
Both Rand and Egwene did next to nothing for a month.
Let's take Rand first. The meeting with Eggy was a letdown. He then goes back to Tear. He sets up a meeting with the Borderlander's "in a few days," but then takes nearly a month to get there. What did he do for those days?
1) Set things right in Tear (Cadsuane, Tam, Nynaeve) + DF effect of looking into their eyes. He makes some preparations for the army to move. He gets Cadsuane to find Alsalam (sp), but this was an assist from Verin.
2) Return to Bandar Eban. Had to to this, nice touch.
3) Save Maradon. Awesome scene, but a bit late. He waited over 20 days to get there. If saving the town was so important, why leave it so late? After he gets back, he's 2 days away from the meteting?
4) Meet with Borderlander's. Then it is off to the meeting.
What did he do between the meeting with Egwene and Bandar Eban, and if they were back to back, what about the 20 days between Bandar Eban and Maradon?
Emissaries to the Seanchan? Nope. Do something at the BT? Nope. Something to help Lan (despite his promise)? Nope. Kandor? Nope. Arafel? Nada. Did he go and root out DF's in other places? Nope. Get anyone besides Min to figure out how to win? Nope.
WTF?
Ditto for Egwene.
Yes, a nice manuever in the Hall, but it paints AS as being unbelievable stupid. Enough already, they aren't THAT stupid. Or maybe they are. She had a meeting with the WO's and WF, and that was nice, but it was on the same day as the battle with Mesaana.
She was a total bitch to Gawyn. No help for Lan or the Borderlands. No work on figuring out how to win the LB (though Rand must be wrong, why not get some Browns and Whites on the case). A lousy letter to Tear? That's it?
VERY WEAK.

Yup, Sanderson has no subtly, or at least assumes that his readers have an IQ of 6.

If you don't find it acceptable, fine, but I do. reading is not objective.

Personally I don't get it. If I wanted to read Shakespeare I would've picked up Hamlet.
