Gross. All I can think of when you say proportions is Rand's huge dong covered in red pubes

For one thing, when RJ revealed that Rand is 6'7", I was blown away. That's a ridiculous height, especially given the general nutritional knowledge, etc, of the people. It also means that Egwene and many others are basically staring at his belt buckle all the time. Characters would actually complain about neck pains, or would stand really far back from him.
I suppose I can pass this off, a little, but it's far worse when you consider Lanfear. She's supposed to be the most beautiful woman alive, but she's only slightly shorter than Rand. I have no issues with tall/taller women, but generally, women tend to look kind of ungainly once they're over a certain height. I find it hard that Lanfear's "spell of beauty" would be so inescapable if she were 6'6"... Of course, my sense of scale may be off, and my comments might be more appropriate to women who are closer to 6'9" and greater.

In practice tall people have a lot of frame to cover, and short people don't have a lot of place to put mass, but if the proportions are the same a physically attractive person will remain physically attractive regardless of actual height. Female models tend to be taller than most other women, yet make their living off their looks.
Rand: Does his red hair make it difficult to imagine him as a hero for some of you too?

I think the Norse god Tyr was often portrayed with red-hair

No, not at all. The only visualization problem I've had with characters are Rand and Lanfear

The good thing about personal pronouns is they're widely applicable; it's also the bad thing.
