Over the last week, I suddenly gathered my energy, decided to screw college and grades, and read both tGS and ToM. And I have to say, it was great. It's difficult for me to compare since it's been so long since I read Wheel of Time, and I've been having to read dreary textbooks and other uninteresting things, so maybe it's just the contrast that made me enjoy the two so much. Whatever the case, I loved it, and couldn't put down either of the books. However, since I'm very, very late for tGS reviews, I'll just talk about ToM.

I really disliked the sloppy editing and typos. The time jumps didn't bother me too much, but I found them odd and they somewhat detracted from the book. I can see why it was like that though.

I absolutely hated the letter Mat wrote to Elayne. In none of the other books do I remember Mat being illiterate. Sure, he shirks responsibility and doesn't want to do anything productive or useful (for the most part) but I always saw Mat as a slacker genius. Or if not genius, at least intelligent! Especially with all the memories in his head, since if he remembers balls and dancing, then I'm sure he remembers notes and missives and writing orders, so he should be able to spell and write!

Elayne getting the Sun Throne felt a little forced and rushed... But I don't mind it. I disliked Perrin becoming Elayne's subject though. That's giving her way too much power. But that could be my own biased opinion, and not really a criticism of the book.

A huge amount of things has happened, and that is no doubt one of the reasons why I've enjoyed the two books so much. Because even if poorly written in parts and with mistakes, the progress that is being made makes me forgive the book just about anything. And this book made me really start to like Perrin as a character, and even Faile. Which is quite surprising. Even Cadsuane is actually an alright person. I still dislike Egwene intensely, but she is.... palatable now. And I like how it is becoming basically the same scenario as when LTT was denied by the female Aes Sedai. As Rand said, he's the same person, the only difference is how he was raised. And Moiraine. I'm certain the reason she is important is so she can arrive at the meeting and convince the Aes Sedai and others to help Rand.

Anyway, that's enough of my rambling. The book accomplishes a lot. It has mistakes, and has faults... But nothing too terrible, I think. a 8/10.
