He looks rather fat in his paintings because of his clothings, but I believe the historical consensus was that he was a tall and broad man. Maybe a little portly but not "Fat" until he was older. Keep in mind, he was an Athlete as he was growing up. He was proud of maintaining his athletic abilities as a King.

But no, he was no stick of a man at any point.
