A reader must suspend disbelief in WoT for the following reasons:

1. Magic
2. Mythical creatures
3. Alternate world/reality
4. Contrived history
5. No cultural/linguistic development of any believable nature
6. Character motivations that make no sense
7. Failure to invent technological developments for thousands of years for no apparent reason
8. Did I mention magic and mythical creatures?
9. No religion
10. Everyone seems to be living happily ever after (at least the people who matter)
11. Poor plot development
12. Bad/stupid plans on the part of evil
13. Did I mention this takes place in a world that doesn't exist?
14. Did I mention that everyone speaks English?
15. No real sense of jeopardy for major characters (see point 10 for confirmation)
16. Seems to be a bad copy of Tolkien for several books

I could go on...really, I could. There are plenty of reasons why a reader must suspend disbelief. How many reasons can you find for a book like War and Peace?
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
