Re: How far can balefire go? Lo'oris Send a noteboard - 30/11/2010 09:30:56 AM
What exactly does it take to halt the progress of balefire?

As far as I know, balefire is treated as the world was a videogame, with definite objects; I see no other explanation over how can it affect a whole person and the thing he carries but not propagate further (such as to the ground, etc.)

It halts when it reaches an "object". If the balefire is very smaller than the object it will just destroy the touched part, if instead it is large enough, it will destroy the whole object (including parts of it not touched by the actual balefire).

1) If one were to shoot balefire into the air, would it ever end?

This is never explained afaik, we can only assume that, like lasers, it does get less and less powerful on his way.

4) Can you balefire balefire?

Don't cross the streams!

Rand and Moridin did that to kill Gozer.

5) Does the air get balefired too? Might that not create a vacuum if a huge amount of balefire was used such as when Rand balefired Graendal's palace?

All evidence is that it doesn't. Huge balefire creates ripples in creation itself, but I can't recall anything about wind (and I guess wind will happen if you instantly remove portions of air).

These are the questions that keep me up at night....lol

They are nice questions.

I think of it as having a finite amount of "energy" - 30/11/2010 10:56:05 AM 666 Views

5 miles unaided. And 5 miles x the strength multiplication of the Choedan Kal as a maximum. - 30/11/2010 04:37:21 PM 961 Views

I wasn't trying to nullify the calculation - I was making the point that saidin and saidar are equal - 30/11/2010 06:16:24 PM 613 Views
It's not that saidin is stronger than saidar at all... - 30/11/2010 06:51:01 PM 723 Views
