From the book one we've been told that rats and ravens are spies for the Shadow. How do you figure they do it? Now we know the answer that was bugging me from day one - special TP weave. And when I read this it was so "intuitively obvious" that it made me smile.
But only the Forsaken have ever been allowed to tap into the TP, no ordinary 3rd Age channeler has done that according to Moggy so how can rats and ravens have been used as spies before the Forsaken were freed? Yet the Shadow's spies are an accepted part of the Borderland lore. Would the Dark One personally see to all the animals himself? That would mean that the animals would have to come to Shayol Ghul since the DO likely couldn't reach them anywhere else. But the animals wouldn't survive the Blight! So who weaves the TP?
Uno told Perrin that the animals have to report to Myrddraals, that the Myrddraal pulls the info out of them. I figured it's a Myrddraal skill, nothing to do with TP (well, everything to do with TP since it's Myrddraals, but not directly).
Did you know that Ishamael is one of the Forsaken? Did you know that he was not bound in he Bore?
Plus, Graendal tells us that the this particular weave is very easy to use on rats and ravens, for some reason. We don't know the full effect on the weave on them, but we can speculate that one Forsaken can easily manipulate tons of rats if he/she wanted.
As for what Uno told us - it maybe true, maybe not, since Uno has no idea about strength of Forsaken and what they can do.
