I think it may end up being that despite everything else, Ishamaels claims that this is a battle between the DO and Creator using human surrogates will turn out to be true afterall. I think Rand will merely repair the bore somehow and lock the DO up perfectly, atleast until the next time the wheel turns. However before that, he will have to face and defeat his opposite, the DO's avatar/champion in the world which will likely be either Moridin or Shaidar Haran.
I'm not sure if it will play into the story very much, but we may do well to remember that Moridin has been playing both sides for quite some time and we truly have no idea why.
As far as Moridin's place as Nae'blis and his role in the DO's plans...Moridin is the only one of the FS to admit to himself that a Dark side victory means the end of everything. That's why the DO trusts him with unlimited access to the TP.
