haha, that's an easy answer. You have no justification on how or why the defect could seal the Bore, so you just RAFO us.
I never thought Callandor would be essential to Rand's plan to defeat the DO, but this book changed my mind a bit. Min really focused on Callandor and the proficies that reference it. I can't quite remember what she was saying, but she seemed to think they have been misinterpreted and Rand needs to think more about how he is going to use Callandor.
Does anyone else remember exactly what Min was theorizing, or do any of you have your own theories on Callandor?

Min makes two observations to herself in Tear before she gets all googley eyed when Rand returns from the borderlands. She focus on pointing out that Callandor is referred to as "That Fearful Blade" and also that it is in the grip of a black hand IIRC. Also she mentions the prophesy that he will be bound by twain. (obviously referring to the Mark Twain reading homework assigned to Rand by Cadsuane from COS.) (j/k)
This in itself left me little in the way of info and I think was mostly just a discussion starter for fans until AMOL. I like the idea of Callandor being used by Ishy/Mor. with Lanfear/Sel. and Moghedian being the two females that will enter the ultimate Forsaken circle (probably the entire reason for the mindtraps to be introduced in the first place, because really have they served any purpose so far? They are a tool to help justify why any of the forsaken would step so out of character and trust one another enough to link with the Na'blis. Jordan could have left Lanfear and Moghedian in the waterboard torture room in S.G. until the LB and we would have bought into it just fine. It's not like Jordan was afraid to keep a bad guy off screen for too long.....cough cough Demandred cough.) Anyway, the net result of the flawed Callandor usage by the above mentioned could be a interesting backlash of the one power on the Dark One this time, so our wheel of time can come full circle and the Creators Taint (excellent band name) can shape the demise of the shadow for the next age much like the Dark Ones Taint did the third age.
Min also mentions another prophesy in the beginning of this chapter that sparked nothing in me for theory's and hopefully somebody else will run with it soon.

In his mind, at least, Rand was defeated by the Seanchan in TPoD.
