Egwene has the entire resource and knowledge of the White Tower at her disposal. Besides, why would Rand need to explain replacing the seals when we don't even know that is he's intention. That might be what he wants to do or he might go with a different plan, we won't know until the meeting takes place. Personally, I really don’t entirely understand Egwene fear, I understand she had a dream but the interpretations of that dream could mean a lot of things.
1. The Tower was formed several hundred years after LTT sealed the bore and after the world was torn apart by the mad male Aes Sedai. Many of the records were lost. The Aes Sedai forgot much of what they knew including traveling. In TOM Egwene was trying to get information on the oath rod. There wasn't much information in the entire resources and knowledge of the White Tower on the oath rod. Why would there be much on the Seals? The female Aes Sedai in the AOL weren't part of making the seals. Why would the Tower have information on what the males were doing?
2. At the present time the seals are the only thing keeping the DO from destroying the world. Without the seals, or a replacement the world is doomed. It is perfectly reasonable and rational for Egwene to want keep the seals in place until there is a better solution. Why break the seals without a replacement? Why hate/castigate Egwene because wants a better idea than let's break the seals and come up with a solution later? Why hate Egwene because she gets the worlds leaders together to try to persuade Rand?
She could take a look at the blooming trail of apple trees he's leaving behind. And I really don't understand why the idea of breaking the seals is "insane"? Nyneave and Elayne don’t seem to have a problem with it, it's common knowledge among most Aes Sedai that the seals are crumbling. Is Egwene’s objection based on the idea itself or the person who proposed it?
Follow the trail of apples? Egwene is now all knowing, and has knowledge of what happens in one orchard in Andor? The Wise Ones think breaking the seals is wrong. Why should Egwene give more credence to Elayne and Nyneave than the Wise Ones? Do the Egwene Haters object to Egwene's response because Egwene proposed it? Give her a break.
As I said, it’s fairly easy to predict what Egwene’s response was going to be to. Whether readers think her actions are rational, backstabbing, or power tripping - it’s entirely up to the individual reader’s point of view.
It is fairly easy to predict how the Egwene Haters will respond. No matter what she does it will be taken as irrational, backstabbing, power tripping, and worthy of hate.
As I keep saying, what Rand’s plan is we don’t know yet. Maybe he wants to reseal the bore with new seals, maybe he wants to destroy the Dark One once and for all and remove the taint from the Wheel. I definitely think he’s open to options; after all, he has all of Lews memories and knows the mistakes he made last time. I think at the meeting he’d probably wants to get a consensus and get everyone united over a plan – Who the fuck knows. The point is however, if Egwene is concerned about breaking the seals and doesn’t want that to happen - then what does she want to do? I don’t know why Egwene Apologists seem to have issues with this. If she wants to stop Rand from breaking the seals - That’s fine - what does she propose they do then? It’s a valid and fair question.
Eqwene has been Amyrlin for 2 weeks and doesn't have all the answers. So let's hate her? Mat doesn't have the answers and everyone seems to like him. Nyneave doesn't have the answers and everyone seems to like her. Don't hate Egwene because she doesn't instantly agree with Rand.
Of course, because comparing a fictional position of power in a fantasy world to the presidency to the United States of America of the 21st century is valid. Oh please, as I’ve said, her political opponents are fucking morons, her stature and position is secure. Rand is called “Sheepherder” and “Boy” on a constant basis in front of everybody, he’s doing fine.
Much like the presidency of the United State the Amyrlin Seat is a postition of power and deserves respect. Nyneave was disrepecting the position of Amyrlin. When Egwene discussed the problem with Nyneave, Nyneave became very uncomfortable. Why? Nyneave knew she was wrong and was feeling guilty. She was disrepecting Egwene. Makes perfect sense for the Haters - Nyneave disrepects Egwene so lets hate Egwene.
There are enough reasons out there to dislike Egwene, but opposing Rand on breaking the seals, calling Nyneave to task, and screwing up her love life with Gawyn aren't those reasons.
