I also suspect that Aviendha would know if she was sleeping. Maybe not at the time, but after she wakes up certainly.
I don't know who Nakomi is. I never suspected she was Verin.
I've been pondering with the idea that perhaps she was one of the Aiel who were broken by Rand's proclamation at Al'cair Dal and embraced the Way of the Leaf. She had no weapons, which is curious among Aiel alone in the Waste.
All those strange things that YT mentioned, about the coals and stuff. Why bring it up if it's not significant? It's going to be a total let down if Nakomi is just some random, normal Aiel wandering around.
