So... you didn't get enough of it from the last... what? 4 books?

I admit that it can seem a little rushed, but in no way is this plot "over" in the sense that there are no more consequences. It's just that those consequences will likely happen in a decade or so, not right now.
Really, we had Elayne's preparations to take the Sun Throne, saw her getting allies, saw how she planned to cement the two nations together. We know that her chief adversaries likely won't come against her for a while, until The Last Battle has finished, at least, so they can build up power.
There really isn't anything interesting to tell without jumping a decade into the future.
