I don't see why it wouldn't be technically possible to time-travel with a gateway (I even began writing a WoT fanfic short story that featured it once, before I realized how terrible it was and discarded the whole thing), but I'm pretty sure that such a thing was ever going to be part of the story.



Agreed. Verin's long been an extremely peculiar character, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit since as best we can tell Aviendha's entire story passes before Rand even goes back to Dragonmount - giving Verin plenty of time. Of course, that also raises the question of how Verin found her there in the first place: the Three-Fold Land is a large place, and it seems odd that Verin would be in the right place at the right time. Also, Avi didn't know that she left with a gateway: she would have felt whoever it was channeling and so far as we know Verin doesn't know how to invert weaves or mask her ability to channel.
