At the end of the book hordes of shadowspawn are overrunning Caemlyn. They have the weapons she didn't fight so hard to get, and the Kin is probably slaughtered, or soon going to be. At least she won't have to give the sea folk a mile of land.
Do you really think Caemlyn will fall? I don't, not for a second. And I doubt the Kin will die since it's yet more people for Egwene to control.
I do think she should die though... I still hold out hope that someone will stuff her in a vacuole until she's in labour, get her kids and stuff her in again so that Min's viewing will come true but we don't have to deal with her ever again. Or maybe Egwene can misconstrue something she's trying to do for the good of the people as 'starting a rebellion' against the White Tower and execute her.
Why would Egwene execute a queen who obeys her and delivers not one but two nations to her on a silver platter? I agree that she should die, though. Her idiocy about being untouchable needs to get her killed. She's like a small child who keeps slamming her hand on a hot stove expecting not to get burned, only small children learn after doing it once unless they're mentally challenged. It would be in Rand's best interest to be rid of her for good; I've always had this bad feeling that she's going to use the bond to force Rand to obey Egwene, so the sooner she dies, the better.
Well, I dunno about Caemlyn... the Last freakin' Battle needs to be at least a LITTLE bit messy, right? I liked that after a book called Towers of Midnight that should have been called 'tying up loose ends and getting everyone on the same page before Tarmon Gai'don', we got a little bit of uncertainty in the epilogue. So, although I agree that Caemlyn won't be burned to the ground maybe, it's already on fire at the end of the book so who knows? As far as the Kin go, the whole series has been built on its 'sacrifices' being secondary characters that we may have some small attachment to. Having tons of Kin die in Caemlyn fits that mould. So the jury's out for me.
As far as the second part, and in answer to the other poster, yes I was being sarcastic, and pointing out that it'd be poetic justice for Elayne to be done in by a fellow tyrant and friend for some perceived slight to her 'authority', in the same way that Elayne's haughty selfishness made her want to execute - EXECUTE - Perrin for having a banner raised. Yeesh.
