I like the new Rand and I think that now he is on the right path, but I wonder what are the crimes that he keeps apologizing for? Granted, he almost killed his father but he only has to apologize to Tam for that “almost” crime. What are the others? Yes, the destruction of Graendal’s lair was excessive and that might be included. But his battles to save Cairhien from the Shaido and Illian from the Seanchan were all justified. Plus he ordered grain delivered to both Cairhien and Illian which saved lives and reformed the outdated laws that nobles imposed on “peasants”. Did he let the Aiel down? Maybe he did not take them with him on some of his travels but that is hardly a crime. Arad Doman? Not understanding his destiny and embracing it is hardly a crime either. Can he be held responsible for the Dark One spoiling the land? He tried to force people to obey him but that was because so many did not get the big picture of what is important: the last battle. IMO, trying to force self-centered nobles and leaders to do the right thing does not rise to the category of a “crime”.
