Do you want to see another fantasy following the sorting algorithm of evil? redhand Send a noteboard - 14/09/2009 08:42:10 PM
I never really understood this part of the story. I mean, I suppose if their entire plan was to convert him to the shadow, then that's just fine, but it always seemed a little silly to me. Also, when Ishy fought Rand in the first two books, why didn't he ever use the one power? I mean, if I were honestly trying to kill the dude, I'd just blow him up. Maybe I'm really a moron and missing something here. If so, please tell me, because this really ruins my whole suspension of disbelief deal.

I mean, in order for the story to have tension, you need to have hero and villain to match abilities somewhat. You either present all the bad guys up front, and create a reason why they choose not to go all out at first like WOT does; or you present the Worst Villain in the Universe, defeat him, then present an even worse Worst Villain in the Universe, who was plotting hebind the scene, defeat him, then present an even worse ..., which is basically the sorting algorithm of evil.

Would you suspend your disbelief better if RJ did it that way, or you would claim disbelief on the suddeness of the newer and more powerful villain?

It is one way to play a trope.

He's crazy. Batshit insane. All of his dogs aren't barking. He's a couple cans short of a 6pack. *NM* - 14/09/2009 12:59:30 PM 278 Views
