Take your own advice, please. Don't mind me for making mincemeat of your oh-so sensible contribution:
You didn't even read the whole argument. Far from making mince meat of it, you only showed your stupidity again.
Hello Miss sensibility!
Huh? Is this an insult?
Thanks for this wonderful and smart contribution. You're doing the same thing darius is doing, but you are even worse at it.
Alanna could -simply- be ordered to release her "Warder"..I mean rape-victim. She could simply be held in prison.
Don't mind me sniggering a little bit now.
Alanna could -simply- be ordered to release her "Warder"..I mean rape-victim. She could simply be held in prison.
Don't mind me sniggering a little bit now.
Snigger away, numbskull. How was Alanna to be ordered to do any such thing when she was ordered by Rand to stay away. Sure, they took her to him anyway. But by the time the Rebel Embassy could order Alanna to release the bond, they were all under Rand's control, and the bond had been proven to be totally useless against male channelers to control them. If Rand wanted her to remove it, he could have done it anytime, after Alanna swore fealty. He didn't, so they stopped bothering.
And kept in prison? So she can be an open target for anyone who wants to kill Rand?
The reason why Alanna is out there, is because it's so darn handy that all the Aes Sedai now have a permanent leash from the rape-victim to the miss rapist.
What leash? All the Aes sedai know the bond is useless in controlling Rand, and anyway, Alanna has sworn fealty to him. He's in control anyway!
Again, taking darius his road of finding petty excuses. But again, you're doing an even worse job then he was. She mentally -raped- someone. All the Aes Sedai think so.
No they don't. They think it is akin to rape when a non-channler is bonded forcefully, since the Aes Sedai can then do whatever she wants to him. She can compel him. It has been clearly proven than Alanna can do no such thing to Rand. That the Aes Sedai still think she was wrong and would eventually have to be punished speaks well of them, rather than to the contrary.
How would -you- feel being mentally raped and the excuse for keeping the purpetrator around near you, is because that poor rapist just lost his mama and his little doggy. Boo-hoo!
Here comes the drama queen again. Moved as I am by the deep pathos in your argument, you might want to read what I wrote.
None of these really make it right, but these factors do play into why the Aes Sedai are not as harsh as they would typically have been.
Given the total absence of intelligence you've displayed in this debate, I doubt you know of this, but in the real world, mental instability is used as a defense to mitigate punishment for crimes.
These are silly excuses! What's next? We wait for Siuan to hang Novices, because she lost Aldric ans she's feeling really, really sad? Awww. Poor Siuan *pat on the head*.

And not -one- Aes Sedai did a goddamn thing about it. Not one. Elaida got away with both without so much a scratch!
Even worse, Stephanos was kept in the Tower!
I count three hundred Aes Sedai sitting outside the Tower to depose Elaida. Egwene uses the kidnapping as an argument to bring Elaida down. And yet here you are, saying no one cared...
I'm going to say this nicely; sorry, but you're really wrong here. The whole Tower knew Stephaneos was held captive for all the wrong reasons. You might want to re-read Egwene's encounter with Stephaneos and see how the Red Sister panics who tags along (as a prison guard) when Egwene tells Stephaneos the truth. The Tower knew. Instead of punishing Elaida for nothing short of an act of war, they -helped- her keep the sharade up, to protect the Tower's interests & "reputation" (what was left of it at that point)
The point is, she has a defense, no matter what people may "know".
Oh my lord. This isn't -about- a contest if the Whitecloaks are worse or better then Aes Sedai! This is about showing that -like the Whitecloaks- the Aes Sedai have their fair share of atrocities that remain unpunished, used in an appalling way or hidden away in a secret Depository.
Nonsense. The whole point was that the Whitecloaks perform atrocities regularly, whereas the much smaller crimes of the Aes Sedai have gone temporarily unpunished due to the Tower split and the extraordinary situation of the Last Battle approaching.
It's not about exactly matching atrocities. It's about both organisations having members who commit certain atrocities and getting away with it!
And it is of no consequence that the Whitecloak commit atrocities more regularly, at a larger scale, and get punished even less than Aes Sedai (even if we accept that the Aes Sedai do indeed go unpunished, which is unproven in the series).
Just. shed. those. pink. glasses.
Shed the crap you're holding up.
You're setting up a Strawman argument! I don't have to. Take your own advice.
Do you even know what a strawman is? We have a direct instance of Whitecloaks and AS both present in the same situation, and the WC let innocent people die, and the Aes Sedai help them. That isn't a strawman by any means.
