This isn't just Churchill saying he'd give the devil a favorable mention in the house of commons after the Soviets got invaded by Nazi Germany. It's as if the Allies had also went to war with the USSR over Finland (as almost happened) and then had to decide to make peace with them to counter the greater threat of Nazi Germany.
