bubbles of evil being described as an effect of the weakening of the seals on the DO's prison, perhaps Mashadar is something similar born instead by the evil of Men.

who knows what happens to men who forsake the Light and reject the Shadow? they become a power unto themselves, i guess that's what RJ means when he says Fain is outside the Pattern.

In the first books this just sounded like a cool interesting idea of Mashadar/Mordeth, but since then the whole world has been very fleshed out and it doesnt seem like some power this powerful can exist without either the Creator the the Dark One making it.

It's like a third force, a 'Gray Force' that is neither the Light nor the Dark. Perhaps it is the combination of the two, the Light's intention manifested and then tainted by the Dark's evil.

Seeing as how it has been described as being powerful enough to destroy the world it basically has an equal footing with the Dark One.

Perhaps Mashadar is only locally equal to the DOs power. - 01/10/2010 10:53:40 AM 638 Views
