Egwene has no reason to bring Tiana up in this context ... it's literally the next sentence after she tells Silviana that Sheriam was executed for being of the BA!

Then Egwene has no reason not to mention Tiana is Black either! She could easily have said that straight out.

Frankly, if both the top executive positions under Egwene were filled out by Blacks, Egwene would have mentioned it when she read Verin's list. Both Sheriam and Moria received special mention because they were so high up in the Rebel Administration. Do you really think a Black who had a thousand Novices under her wouldn't have been mentioned either? That stretches belief, IMO.

I suppose Merean and Sheriam didn't encourage women either?

To become Blacks? Certainly. But they never went out of their way to encourage Novices to improve despite the senior-most Sitter objecting! They followed the rules and quietly tried to draw women into joining the BA.

We've seen a thousand examples of women who are BA still doing their AS jobs to the fullest, even Galina thinks that her duties as a BA don't make her less of a Red.

I'm talking about actions, you're talking about words and self-appeasing statements.

The point is that Tiana didn't merely do her job. She exceeded what she had to do. In fact, she ticked off Romanda to do it. Hardly the actions of a Black who wants to minimize suspicion.

You could even say that Tiana encouraging the older women to learn the new healing is subversive given Romanda's obvious attitude (and likely a lot of other Yellows).

Huh? That points to her not being Black. Why would a Black do something that will draw the attention of Sitters to her? A Black would likely stick to the status quo on these issues. Encouraging Healing more than necessary is hardly a great way of pushing women towards the Black.
Moast seem to hate the idea of the older women in general. That and there is no way one woman could stop 1000 Novices from learning the weaves and showing the skill inherent in them... in fact if it came out that there were highly talented women and Tiana DIDN'T encourage the Talent she would look even worse.

She could certainly deny them the right to practice. In fact, traditional MoN's would frown on Novices performing Healing. Even Accepted are not allowed to do that!

I'm afraid all that's happened is that after seeing how very competent Silviana is as MoN, and after her own close contact with the Novices, Egwene decided that Tiana would just not suffice, and asked Silviana to pick a new one.

Tiana ... And I suspect she was BA herself since we are later told Egwene would need a "proper MoN" *NM* - 26/09/2010 03:26:16 PM 320 Views

Read Egwene's PoV in COT. Tiana is obviously disturbed by her. She defers without deferring. *NM* - 27/09/2010 03:47:15 AM 279 Views
that was kind of my point, Sharina has no trouble deferring - 27/09/2010 05:20:36 AM 499 Views
