Re: That would be right if you didn't actually think about what you were reading a little - Edit 1

The Great Hunt hasn't been updated yet but apparently the last code is out and we'll be able to read the chapter soon!

EDIT: 2 hours ago, BS said on his page that it may have been lost or found. We'll see what happens

Edit 2: Yes, it's up!!!

I skipped through all the scenery, thoughts about Tuon, anything Thom said and basically Teslyn likes Mat, he gave her some horses, the Gholam is back to kill him.

Only took 1 sentence to sum it up lol

it may not feel like a lot happened, and many segments felt repetitious. There was some info, fleshing-out, and characterization. If you like to read books, then you like to go on a journey (official cliche) - so scenery is something that happens, even if bits of Tolkien and other English authors can be seriously skip-able on the 2nd read.

It's a chapter in a novel of probably 600+ pages in hardcover. Michael Bay custom-makes movies for the not-actually-ADD set, because lots of people want that "reward button" to get hit every four seconds.

Actual critique might ask if it's intending to mirror Mat's adventures with Thom on their last night in TV. Or if something is wrong in characterization to have Mat say so much while he's really doing so little. Being loud is less fun when you're making less of a point...

Whether a book works for you is about whether you feel positively about the quality of the writing, the choices of the author, and the overall "flow" of the work. There's also this thing called "the author's thesis." Check it out.

No, I'm quite capable of reading every line thoroughly. I just do not find it so interesting when the thoughts/scenery has been stretched out by triple and everything crawls at a snails pace. Also I find Mat's storyline to be boring. If he was going to rescue Moiraine it should have been 3 books ago.

It's like deciding to go to the supermarket because you're hungry and have no food in the house and taking 2 weeks to write up the grocery list and meanwhile you're whole family is either dead or on the point of starvation.
