How many times do we have to do this, Deadsy? Bela gets a PoV in this book! newyorkersedai Send a noteboard - 15/09/2010 04:19:57 AM
I'm just taking a guess here:

Nuzzling her feedbag in the White Tower loft she called home, Bela discovered a tasty oat. It wasn't the first oat that she'd eaten, any more than it would be the last oat that she'd eat. But it was an oat.

While Bela crunched at her morsel, the world suddenly twisted. Deep inside her equine body, she could feel her rumen cramp up in terror. For a moment, Bela's two-sided view of the barn changed - it was as if both her eyes were somehow getting closer together, seeing the things that were in front of her instead of off to her sides. For one second, the two views of the world met, and mingled. Panicked and breathing heavily, she thought she saw as humans do.

Then everything came crashing back to normal. Panting as if she had run the Caralain Grass in 3 hours, she hoped that everything was back to normal.

Whinnying a tiny prayer to the Creator Who Also Punishes Hard-Whippers, Bela did what she could to reassure herself. Focusing on her vision, she confirmed that saw everything on her far right and to the front, and on her far left and to the front. Bela tilted her brown head twice in order to get a good look at what was in front of her - first one eye, and then the other.

Yes, she thought to herself, the world looked right again. But Bela knew that something was still wrong with everything around her. It was something old, something rotten to the core. She knew that the Dark One would come soon now, making oats and grasses and male equines disappear. And Bela knew what she had to do.

Bela had to go to Shayol Ghul, and quickly.

Do we even know its 8 for sure? I mean, he could just be illustrating a point. - 14/09/2010 04:52:28 AM 422 Views
I read the eight as hyperbole as well, but who can say. - 14/09/2010 11:53:51 AM 443 Views

I think the 8 was just a number, but it's easy to get past 8... - 16/09/2010 01:16:29 AM 390 Views
