I do like Perrin's character, but the whole "I'm not a lord" and "i must do everything myself" is old, and I had thought we had got past that. But he seemed to revert in TGS. His interaction with Faile was good though. They actually had a good talk for once. So that was promising. But as for the whole T'AR and Slayer and the wolves plot I'm a not too interested in. Would much prefer to see him pulling the many different factions together behind Rand. As for Foresaken around him, that too could be a little far fetched. After all, what protection does he really have against them if they decide to strike. I kind of though his whole hiding in the middle of nowhere was to keep him out of harms way from them. If he is found by Moghedian or Cyndane, he will be destroyed as per Moridin's orders. Why mess about and play games this close to TG?
I've no problems with the sub plots around him as these add depth to the story. And as you say the pace should really pick up as per Sanderson's style. So hopefully lots less recapping and introspection and hand wringing!
As for Moiraine, I'm not really sure she has time to go be with Lan. If she is vital to Rand's cause then she must go to him first. I doubt she will go to the tower, most AS seem to avoid it if they possibly can. And it would only delay her. So she has to be with Rand to accomplish her taks, and I doubt it's a quick "Hi Rand, I'm OK so you can forget that weird list. OK, now I must be off, goodbye". I'd also question the value of 1 AS with Lan, how much could she contribute alone? Certainly not enough to tip the balance. And is there enough book space left for her to go to Egwene and lead an AS army to save the Malkeri? It would be fitting, but you cannot undo the past so I remain unconvinced on this one.
