I have been thinking on the 3 wives question for a while my self, although I personally am not a fan of the following thought, it wasn't mentioned so I will throw it out there.
Darwinism. Having 3 wives means that he can have multiple offsprings at a higher rate then with one wife. This may be the pattern's way to stack the odds on Rand not becoming a "Kinslayer". Or only killing some but not all of his kin.
I know the taint has been cleansed and Rand will not get crazier, but perhaps the Pattern didnt know that would happen for sure. Ta'verens are there to "correct" any threads that have strayed too far from the Pattern's designs. This means that even though there are prophesies, there is no pre-determined fate.

Ta'veren-ness isn't a genetic ability. But the Pattern might want Rand to have as many kids as possible, to increase the chances of having strong channelers in likely high positions of power. *shrug*
In conclusion, Pattern stacks favor for Rand incase he didn't cleanse taint. Pattern turned Rand into a Mormon.
The LDS church doesn't practice polygamy. Some fundamentalist and splinter groups do, but the "Mormon Church" doesn't.

It's not really Darwinism, if the Pattern arranged it. Anyway...

But the Dragon isn't a hereditary title. *NM*

I'm not referring to the title. I'm referring to the genetic lineage from which the Dragon comes. *NM*
