Fairly sure Dom knows all of that, considering how much he evidently knows about the Arthurian legends and how he analyzed them in that post. When he says there's not much Arthurian about the sealing of the Bore and blowing of the Horn, what he means is, well, what he says really: that there are no obvious parallels to those events in Arthurian legend. I'm not sure how you interpreted that as him saying there weren't any other references to Arthurian names or concepts in the series.
You understood me perfectly.
There are Arthurian and para-Arthurian stories about a magical Horn that will call back the "dead heroes", and variations where there is no Horn mentionned, but it is said that Arthur (or other non-Arthurian "heroes" like Roland, Charlemagne, the Nine Worthies, Finn Mac Cool will return from their death or magical sleep at the hour of their nations's greatest need.
But as you caught on, I meant the hints we have about the LB, the Horn, the possible use of Callandor, the Sealing etc. point only to some Arthurian parallels being used in a completely un-Arthurian setting. The classic Arthurian cycle ends with the gigantic battle of Camelot-Camlann, and sometimes with the departure of his corpse for Avalon (mostly in the English tradition, which introduced that element). . There's no fight of Arthur against the Devil (not more than implied and remotely at that, the subtext of the later medieval tradition is more that of a fight between Christianity and paganism, and only by implied extension paganism is the work of Satan), no use of Excalibur in that setting, and there's no return of Arthur from the dead either, it's just a mention in the epilogue in some versions, we never get to see this return (the apparition of the Heroes at in Falme, is modelled on other and much earlier mythical episodes, like the arrival of the Tuatha'Dé Danaan in a magical fog to repel the invading Fomores to the sea, the sounding of the Horn to call back all his hero-companions to Finn Mc Cool, Roland's sounding of his horn at the most tragic moment of despair etc.).
What I suggested is that RJ will "close" his major reference to the Arthurian story with a major battle at Caemlyn, and that it won't be the finale of the LB. The story of the LB has nothing to do with the Arthurian _storyline_. I never implied no Arthurian influences would be woven into it.
And oh.... the three in a boat scene being from the movie Excalibur... LOL! That's one of the things for which that movie (good if dated, but not very faithful) got from tradition without twisting it too much.

I actually like Aviendha, but I also think her role could be combined or minimized

I think it must have to do with the Arthurian legends.

Isn't one in some versions actually named Elayne? Also say Egwene al'Vere really fast and you get... *NM*

There are Elaines in Arthurian legends, yeah, but they're involved with Lancelot more than Arthur.

You're right that Moiraine, Nynaeve and Cadsuane would make a better fit.

I think you need another edit to clean up the double-post-within-a-post a bit. Very interesting! *NM*
