That's because most of the major people in WoT are powerful channelers. Great Lord of Chaos Send a noteboard - 21/08/2010 04:13:04 AM
Most of the female Aes Sedai died before the end of the breaking. The ones that did survive died before they could pass on their entire knowledge, or the Aes Sedai that came after were too weak to use it.

They were not too weak because even thousands of years later there are channelers, loads of them who are strong enough to channel these weaves. Specifically Travelling seems easy for anyone who is strong enough and it seems like MANY women are strong enough alone.

Mostly, we see are the women that are powerful enough. Egwene, Elayne, Avi., Nynaeve, Cadsuane, Romanda, Lelaine. Siuan and Leane are the only two major living characters that I can think of that cannot make a gateway by themselves.
