With the Breaking, locations were always changing, so Traveling from a point might have been difficult at best. I think there is a comment about trying to Travel from the deck of a ship as being hard to do. With the chaos, Skimming might have been the preferable means, but who knows what the gateway on the other end might have meant?
And what of the male channelers nuking everything in sight? How many Aes Sedai survived the Breaking?
