How did Rand break free of the Domination Band? We all know that he used True power ofcourse. But it occurred to me to wonder, what does everyone else think about it? I mean Rand has just done something that I think no one expected. What does Min think about what happened. What about Cadsuane, who tried the female version herself and was unable to break free. What do they think? What is their explanation for Rand breakin free of something that should have been unbreakable.

Min was actually in the room when Rand broke free, and heard Semirhage speak. She was hurt but had not yet fallen unconscious, which means she undoubtedly heard Semirhage say the words "I felt nothing", "The True Power" and then ask why the Dark One had betrayed her. Min has also been shown to be pretty clever what with her philosophical studies and such. I wonder if Min, based on Semirhages words and the fact that the collar controls saidin, might not have already figured out the truth and realised that the DO has his own power and that Rand used it to save her. The dark aura around Rand would make it even more obvious to her.

What about Cadsuane? I would presume that Min has not told them what Semirhage said, out of fear of how they would react. Without that it would be very hard to realise the truth. It occurs to me that Cadsuane might believe that ta'veren was somehow responsible. Rand broke free in an unknown way, presumably without saidin, and right afterwards he threatened to kill her through controlled ta'veren which is an ability he has never claimed to have before. Would make sense from her PoV that Rand somehow learned to control the pattern out of desperation. The fact that his ta'veren effect changed to only bad things (reflecting Rand's dark moods) afterwards would likely support the view that Rand now controls the pattern. Might also explain why she was so wary of him, none of her ter'angreal protect her from ta'veren afterall.

What about the others? Why has no one asked Rand how he did it? I mean for all they know, his technique could be used on the female version aswell and might allow them to free themselves if captured. Why is it that the male channelers did not ask? Flinn shows concern about the a'dam after returning from trying to negotiate a meeting and claims that the Seanchan want to bind them all. Why did he not ask Rand for instructions on breaking free, just in case it happened to him.

I wonder also what Mat and Perrin might think. They see Rand through their colour-vision thing. The colours appeared during the cleansing, so the possibility is that they might appear during this major incident aswell. I wonder what they would think about what happened to Rand, and if his use of TP would show somehow. And even if they don't see the collaring itself, I wonder if using TP has any effect. Would the colour visions of Rand be somehow twisted or corrupted afterwards, the way his ta'veren was. Perhaps we will see something in the next book.
