If Rand's new sword has an important role to play I don't feel it will be a magical role. Surely one powerful magical sword is ample, even for the Dragon Reborn. It seems more plausible to me that Hawkwing's sword (if that's what it is) will be used to swear a truce on between Rand and Tuon. A truce between Rand, Tuon and Egwene sworn on Hawkwing's sword could be what the prophecy means, though I'm not convinced.
I think if it is Hawkwing's sword, it would be perfect to swear a truce on. If we say that Rand, Tuon, and Egwene are the 3 main leaders on the side of the light, couldn't the "blade of light" be "blade of the light?" (We know some of the translations have lost detail, like the one Vandene and Adeleas argued over a'vron and Ma'vron to decide it linked the Dragon with Toman Head[TGH])
So the sword would actually represend "the hope of the light" or something? It would mean the prophecy was intended to read more like this:
He shall hold the blade of the Light in his hands, and the three shall become one in purpose.
Do you think that's too far of a stretch?
I always say, if you must mount the gallows, give a jest to the crowd, a coin to the hangman, and make the drop with a smile on your lips. ~Birgitte
