I think Brandon hinted that there is a way to defeat the Rod itself, not the whole Aes Sedai process around taking the Oath.
For some months now I have the following theory:
- to swear the Oath again, the Aes Sedai are un-swearing them;
- since Mesaana didn't swear any Oath, we actually don't know what happens when you are un-swearing them while never swearing in the first place;
- my theory is that such process creates a Oath-negative effect for the channeler, and when the channeler actually swears the Oath, its effect is cancelled by they Oath-negative effect;
- this may actually be tied to the physics of the Rod and so Brandon's words hold true.
