Yeah nothing except their encounter in the previous book which strongly hints at a developing alliance. Graendal's lair is the worst kept secret in the series - she's been visited by Sammael, Cyndane and Moghedien, and suddenly its implausible that Aran'gar could be doing the same.

As far as we know, they just exchanged infos at a neutral place, likely in TAR. Only Moridin knows where Graendal stays, according to her thoughts, no other male Forsaken.

The scene was cleverly written by using the mechanics of balefire and Compulsion to explain how Rand managed to outsmart Graendal with brute force. This was only possible, because Nynaeve found Graendal's trail in time. It would be completely unlike RJ, if his hero Rand was actually unable to kill Graendal and would seem like an idiot in retrospective, just to still have Graendal around in the story to deal with her some time later. This was the perfect death scene for Graendal.

LTT/Rand state several times that Graendal is a superior mind to them. It's completely plausible that she could outsmart even their best plan.

And because of this, Rand came up with his brute force-plan. It's ridiculous to believe that one couldn't ever kill Graendal, because she will figure out very move you make. Graendal was even outsmarted by Sammael.

Get over it, she is dead and won't suddenly reappear in any plotline, because Rand dealt with her in a powerful scene. Other characters will just muse about Graendal in ToM.
