I was just reading Deadsy's post talking about wagons and turnips and Ander Tol. It made me think about that name, Tol. Does it seem like a Westland name? Well, what does a Westland name sound like?

And that got me thinking that I can't remember any two characters in the series who have the same name. Sure, people might have the same last name because of family, but not first names.

I might think this is a cultural thing of the Westlands. Maybe their naming system is just really different from ours. Well, the Chinese naming system is very different from ours, providing a virtually limitless possibility of names. Basically, you can choose any one or two (depending on preference or tradition) characters for a child's given name. And yet, I read an article saying there's 100,000 people in China named Wang Tao!

So have I missed any characters with the same names? Or Was RJ just way too involved with creating new things for his world that he didn't bother to duplicate names?
